I have been a longstanding fan of pink and red together and this season you will see a lot of pink and burgundy paired together. I could not be more excited about it. This skirt is an all time favorite - the print, the silhouette - it's all just perfect in my mind. Unfortunately, it's relatively older, but I was able to find a few good options for you, as well as some of my fave picks for burgundy and pink below.

With temperatures rising, I'm on the look out for some great pieces to take me through the summer months. Since warm temps last a little longer down south, these pieces will give me some extra mileage in September (and likely October), but really are great options to keep you cool and chic through the summer.

I somehow thought that this month would be a little easier than it is proving to be. Between work trips between the two of us and other activities, we are at top speed. What is easy is styling this party skirt. I originally got it last Fall to wear to a wedding and for our Christmas pictures, but it has turned out to be a pretty handy addition to my closet. It's super fun, girly and has just the right amount of flounce.

Being a big proponent of a good collection of LBDs, it's hard for me to not get excited about the recent Ann Taylor LBD collection (available in stores on 10 April 2014). I'm swooning over that long number and the short lacey one.

Ann Taylor just released their Spring 2014 images and though it was no surprise that Kate Hudson continued to be the face of the brand, what was surprising was the introduction of her two adorable sons. I have to say that I like it; though staged, I do think it's a nice nod to working mothers.

So what do you think? Do you like to introduction of her children into Ann Taylor's Spring collateral?

I don't know about where you kids are located but the weather over the past week has been downright dreamy. As in, no humidity, pure blissful fall air, and maybe even a sighting or two of a fall leaf (?!). It's crazy I know, and I also know that mother nature is going to slap me with a whooping dose of humidity as soon as the post goes live. C'est la vie.

I decided to take advantage of this gorgeous weather by layering some tried and trues in bright colors. It was such a fun, bright look that illicited a lot of comments (good and bad - one guy made a comment of he wasn't sure that he could see me...hardy har har). This dress also breaks my 'blondes should not wear yellow rule' so maybe there aren't any hard and fast rules for fashion afterall.

I'd just like to pause for a second to discuss the fact that it May, which is is almost half-way through 2013. I'm not really even sure what to do with that sentence, so I'll move on to May flowers and these shoes. I knew the second that I laid eyes on these shoes that they must be in my closet. Then I tried them on while I was on a trip to LA with a girlfriend and I knew it was over. Between the nude color, the peep-toe/slingback combo and the flower cluster on top - I was sold. I did, however, show enough restraint until they went on sale. Then I promptly called Sterling, my fabulous shoe guy at Nordstrom, and placed an order.

Here's the thing about cutting all of your hair off, sometimes you don't give yourself enough room for a good pony tail. If I have to pick one thing that I miss the most about longer hair, it's the ability to pull it up in either a pony or a high bun and call it a day. <le sigh>

And another thing, I have a bone to pick with Mother Nature. Tights at the end of March?! That's blasphemy in the state of North Carolina!

Macs

As mentioned earlier, I love a good trench. This one in particular is a long time favorite - it's a Mac. Don't let the name confuse you; surprisingly, it's not a product by Apple. The difference between a traditional trench and a Mac (or Mackintosh) is that Macs typically do not have an labels or belts. The term Mac is actually from the developer of the fabric that traditional Macs are made out of, a rubberized waterproof fabric. Perfect for rainy days like this one...even though it was 80-something degrees and the humidity was horrific. (Seriously October, shape up or ship out!)

Having just returned from a fabulous trip out west for a girls weekend, I wanted to share some of the looks that I wore while out visiting LalaLand. I thought I was packing appropriately; however, mother nature had other plans for me and I found that I had packed for both ends of the spectrum (hot or cold) and not so much for the middle-which is what it ended up being. C'est la vie! (Note: These aren't the exact items that I wore, but very close.)

Day-time: I am loving nautical stripes and wide legged jeans. The wedges below are Steve Madden's and are a dead ringer for the Stuart Weitzman Alex wedges-so much so that several shoe department employees at Nordies confused them for the originals
