This year tribal prints are huge.  To be honest, I didn't give this dress a second thought when I saw it on the hanger or on the website or even in the catalog, until I saw it on someone in the store - there's something about it that translates MUCH better in person I think.  Another big Spring trick for me is throwing a trench on - I feel like it makes me feel instantly put together and provides just the right amount of warmth.  As far as a really good trench in a great price point, definitely check out Banana's selection.

To say that Valentine's Day is a big deal in our house is actually downplaying the holiday.  I actually think my love of the holiday started with my mother who always made a big deal of it and has continued my whole life, gaining exponentially through the years.  Basically, it's the best holiday ever. hands down.  So in preparation of this glorious holiday, I'll be sharing several looks for your plans, whether they be a fun night with the girls, friends, or with your loved one.

For Scott's birthday last week, we hit up uptown Charlotte.  Which is downtown, only fancier because they call it uptown.  Totally a marketing ploy, but it did the trick.  Between that and this flouncy skirt, I couldn't have felt more fancy.

I don't know about where you kids are located but the weather over the past week has been downright dreamy.  As in, no humidity, pure blissful fall air, and maybe even a sighting or two of a fall leaf (?!).  It's crazy I know, and I also know that mother nature is going to slap me with a whooping dose of humidity as soon as the post goes live.  C'est la vie.


I decided to take advantage of this gorgeous weather by layering some tried and trues in bright colors.  It was such a fun, bright look that illicited a lot of comments (good and bad - one guy made a comment of he wasn't sure that he could see me...hardy har har).  This dress also breaks my 'blondes should not wear yellow rule' so maybe there aren't any hard and fast rules for fashion afterall.

Between Scott and I, we have easily attended 30 weddings in the past decade without breaking a sweat.  I used to seriously stress over what to wear to these events, but now, partially due to the fact that we attend so many, but mostly due to the fact that I love dresses, I have amassed quite the dress collection.  As in I have an entire closet in our house dedicated solely to dresses.  It makes dressing for these events a lot easier.  And this particular dress, I wore to a wedding of a dear friend this past weekend.  I purchased it right after Peanut was born and when it came in, it definitely didn't fit.  The fact that it fit this weekend was a major win.  Great wedding, dress that fits post-partum - now that's what you call a win-win.

Calling me domestic would be a stretch on a good day.  Hubs came home the other day to me, cooking, in the kitchen in this outfit.  It must have been unnerving to him for many reasons: first and foremost, I was actually in the kitchen cooking something and secondly because it must have been like he was transported back to the 50s - wife, in the kitchen in a dress and heels cooking dinner.  He seemed relatively unfazed...probably because he was just happy to get a home cooked meal. #truth.
