It's no secret that I'm a lover of tweed & mixing patterns.  The moment I saw this drop waist number from JCrew, I was smitten.  It's a little reminiscent of this Tory number which I love, but at a much better price point and with pleats.  I'm eager to rock this number through the warmer months because even though it is tweed, it's a little lighter than I had expected.  Definitely wins all around for the Spring/Summer months.

I have been eyeing a pair of tassel earrings for awhile. Clearly I have a flair for dramatic pieces and so naturally, I love a good statement piece like these stunners.  White was such an obvious choice for me - a clean slate as we step into Spring (when we snapped these, it was over 70 degrees).  And I think they'll be white hot for the summer months as well. (I'm angling to pair it with this number as soon as I can justify pulling it back out of my closet)!

There are lots of things that would fall under Winter Must-Haves for me; I'm a weather wuss afterall.  However, how I mostly combat these cold, dreary days are two fold: Hunter Boots and bright colors.  As you can see, Charlotte got a little bit of snow over the past week.  Though it's nothing is comparison to what our Northern friends have been dealing with, it has been enough to halt the city.  I would not be able to get through the winter without my Hunters.  Even in the aftermath slush, I'm not willing to sacrifice a pair of killer pumps to muck around the city as the roads clear.

My saga with OTK boots dates back to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale when I was desperately trying to make another pair of Stuart Weitzman's work.  I point towards my wider feet as the culprits behind those not working out and as such I had really given up.  Subsequently every time I'd see someone rocking them, I had a twinge of coulda-woulda-shoulda.  Then my shoe guy at Nordstrom convinced me to give these a try and bonus they were on sale.  The rest, they say, is history.  If you are like me and holding out on a pair, I'd highly recommend biting the bullet and just doing it.

Last week the temperatures dropped, the leaves turned gorgeous shades of yellows & oranges, and it was just enough incentive for me to break out the tights.  Here's the thing, a younger me loathed disliked tights, but now an older me realizes that they are a really great alternative to keeping legs warm while still wearing skirts this time of year.

Happy Monday folks! As you can tell, I'm a little behind the eight-ball today; we had an unexpectedly busy, but fun weekend.  This little number I wore to a birthday brunch celebration for a dear friend.  Saturday was the perfect weather: sunny, but just cool enough with the most perfect breeze.  It was a great opportunity to break out this skirt, which I've had on repeat lately and pair it with an all-time favorite sweater - the perfect breezy, comfy pairing in my book.

Growing up, I remember watching Saved by the Bell religiously.  I longed for those teenage years when I could spend my days at school scheming up shenanigans and then hanging out with my friends at a place like The Max afterwards.  What you don't realize when you are longing for those days is that, in high school, you actually have to be serious about your classes (there are colleges to think about) and, at least for me, after school was filled with after-school activities which would better position me to get into said college and homework.


What I am more religious about these days is a good maxi dress.  I can't live without them in the summer and when I finally have to put my summer selection up for the Winter, I can't wait to break them back out again come warmer temps.

I know what you are thinking: Chelsea, I don't go to my closet on a Tuesday and think, 'Feathers, obviously.'.  But hear me out on this, just feather skirts are fun for occasions: girls nights out, date nights, etc., but who says that when paired with some less than dressy kicks and a t-shirt that it can't be more of an everyday look, albeit a little fancier of an everyday look.  But if we are really being honest with ourselves, who doesn't love a little bit of everyday fancy?

Today I'm introducing my new favorite dress for the Spring/Summer.  If it were to be awarded a superlative, it would be 'Best All Around'.  It's mostly because it's the type of dress that I plan to throw on with everything from flip flops to sneakers to heels and accessorize with everything from panama hats, to blazers, to big statement jewelry.  The fabric is light and airy and the color combo is just right.

One sunny Saturday in the not-so-distant past, we went over to an old friend's house for an Easter Egg Hunt.  It was Liam's first egg hunt and he kinda got the idea though he was more interested in securing his strong hold on a truck, but regardless of his focus, he had a BLAST.  And even loved the Easter Bunny who made a special guest appearance.



The weekend was particularly warm and I knew that chasing after a toddler in a dress or skirt was likely an ill conceived idea so I threw on some shorts and hit the hunt.  I'm working on building up my shorts collection for this very reason - stooping + skirt + toddler is usually a bad idea.  I'm still working on the reliable shoes.
