This past Saturday we went down to Charlotte to meet Angela at the Crispy Crepe. Being a fan of all crepes and waffles, I was clearly down. It also afforded me the opportunity to break out my leather-sleeved jacket I snagged on super sale from Piperlime. Wins all around.

There's an ongoing discussion in our household about chambray and the authenticity of what people call chambray. Basically Scott is a stickler for fabrics and it bothers him that people lump denim into the same category as chambray. For the record, he has the same issue with seersucker and furthermore, this 'stickler for the details' trait of his is case-in-point of his rightfully earned title of 'groomzilla' during our wedding planning. I know, it's a whole lot of thought and vexing over a fabric and these are the sort of conversations that go down in our household. And for those of you who do wonder what the difference is between chambray and denim, it's the weaving technique. You're welcome for that random factoid for the day.

Calling me domestic would be a stretch on a good day. Hubs came home the other day to me, cooking, in the kitchen in this outfit. It must have been unnerving to him for many reasons: first and foremost, I was actually in the kitchen cooking something and secondly because it must have been like he was transported back to the 50s - wife, in the kitchen in a dress and heels cooking dinner. He seemed relatively unfazed...probably because he was just happy to get a home cooked meal. #truth.

One blustery day I finally got to check out a spot in Raleigh that I've been dying to try, Beasley's Chicken + Honey. The owner happens to also own two other of our favorite places in Raleigh, Poole's Diner & Chuck's. Beasley's definitely didn't disappoint - everything from their moscow mule (a cocktail favorite of mine) to the chicken and waffles to the dutch apple pie with salted carmel was simply divine. Plus it doesn't hurt that the barkeep looks like Ryan Gosling...just sayin'.

Sunday Brunch and a Magic Pair of Pants
10/09/2012This past Sunday, I gathered with some of my favorite people to bid farewell to a dear friend who is embarking on a super exciting new adventure. Brunch is my absolute favorite and I was super excited that the weather was FINALLY cool enough to layer and not have people give you the 'you're crazy' side-eye.
And here's the crazy thing about these pants...I bought them prior to pregnancy and wore them pre-preggo, and then wore them the entire time I was pregnant (as in I was wearing them the day I went into labor) and I wear them now. They are a wardrobe staple that apparently has been able to withstand the laws of physics and didn't stretch at all despite my incessant wearing of a non-pregnancy pants during my entire pregnancy. If that's not an endorsement for Gap and the quality of their pants, I don't know what is.

As mentioned earlier, I love a good trench. This one in particular is a long time favorite - it's a Mac. Don't let the name confuse you; surprisingly, it's not a product by Apple. The difference between a traditional trench and a Mac (or Mackintosh) is that Macs typically do not have an labels or belts. The term Mac is actually from the developer of the fabric that traditional Macs are made out of, a rubberized waterproof fabric. Perfect for rainy days like this one...even though it was 80-something degrees and the humidity was horrific. (Seriously October, shape up or ship out!)

Transitioning with Poor Little It Girl
9/11/2012
If you haven't heard of Poor Little It Girl already, you should run over to Cathy's site immediately. Not only is her sense of style spot on, but everything she features is affordable. It really a win-win. I'm so honored and stoked that she was able to fill in for me while I'm gone. So without further ado, here's Cathy!
Hi y’all! It’s Cathy, your Poor Little It Girl, here to fill in for Chelsea while she’s on a blogging vacation. Poor Little It Girl is about finding amazing fashions, all for under $100! With that said, as fall approaches, all of us are looking forward to transitioning our wardrobe from the cotton sundresses of summer to looks with layers and texture. My favorite part of fall, without a doubt, has to be the perfect lightweight jacket! Being in the south (did you catch the “y’all” at the beginning?) it’s still too warm to be fully covered, but the addition of the perfect jacket or blazer on those cool nights is a necessity. So here are my favorite styles of lightweight outwear for fall that, your guessed it, are all under a hundo! http://poorlittleitgirl.com
