FAQs

Why did you start blogging?
Haute Child in the City was born out of a need for a creative outlet.  To share things that inspired me, brands that I loved, and sometimes the occasional celebrity scoop.  It's now evolved into more: fashion news, daily style, and life happenings.

How do you fund your fashion addiction?
By day I work in the clinical research field.  You can read more about my career journey here.

What are some of your preferred brands and why?
I believe in investing in pieces that are well made, timeless, stylish, and make you feel good.  I am a brand and company devotee of a few spots: JCrew, Nordstrom, Tory Burch, Banana Republic, and Gap to name a few.  For me clothes have to be well-made, have longevity, and the company has to have some integrity behind it.  I appreciate companies who walk the walk, talk the talk, & have great customer service.

What are some of those invest pieces that you recommend is in everyone's closet?
My answer is always a killer pair of heels (I swear by my Christian Louboutin Pigalles), a classic trench (Banana Republic makes a gorgeous version), and a couple really great pencil skirts (you can never go wrong with a JCrew No. 2 Pencil skirt).

You recently became a mother to a little boy.  What is the best advice for women out there who are trying to look put-together, but also run after a little one?
Step away from the yoga pants and find a great pair of jeans, a comfy but chic top and some great flats. Don't get me wrong, I love a good yoga pant, but I never feel put together when I am wearing them.

Who takes all of your photos and what camera do you use?
My husband is the man behind the lens for many of my outfit photos.  He's a great sport and it's been fun to work with him on it.  Really we use everything from our Nikon DSLR to the camera on our phones depending upon where we are and what we are doing.

What would your advice be for someone who wants to start their own blog?
Do it! It can be a lot of fun, but a whole lot of work.  Try to stay true to your voice, be consistent with your posts, and network with other bloggers.  It's a great community and there are some really fantastic people out there.
