Hi. Remember me? I can't believe that I haven't been back to this space since May.  MAY.  Yes, I know for someone who used to blog more regularly, it seems like years.  And truthfully it felt like both years or mere seconds, but that's how life goes these days.

I could wax poetic about how I needed to take a break (though I did) and refocus on our (very chaotic) family (which I did), but the truth of it is, the days got away from me.  And days turned into weeks and weeks into months and now we are the day before Thanksgiving.  Navigating life as a family of 5 with an active second grader and a set of two year olds has been a lesson in grace and patience with myself.  It's been fun, it's been challenging, it's been soul-crushing, it's been hysterical, it's been crazy, it's been hard, it's been beautiful, and it's been (very) messy.  It's a time in our lives that I simultaneously don't take for granted because I know the days are long but the years are short, but also make me want to chug a bottle of wine and slather myself in CBD oil at the end of the day to calm down.  I've come to appreciate that this is the juxtaposition of life and particularly motherhood.

In terms of what I'm going to be doing with this space next, I can't exactly say.  I want to get back into visiting it more regularly and I hope that you do too.  (You can always keep up with our shenanigans over on instagram if you don't already).  In the meantime, take a gander at this dress & booties.  The dress is super comfortable (and I'll be sporting it this Thanksgiving) and the booties are on constant rotation in my wardrobe these days.  It's really the perfect mix of comfort and edge to make it through the holiday (with room to spare for all of the extra goodness I'll be eating). 

I can fully appreciate the irony of a post about sweaters during a week that has hoovered in the high nineties.  Quite honestly looking at these sweaters makes me sweat a little.  However, if there's anything that I've learned about time, it is before you know it, the weather will have turned and suddenly you can't find anything that you loved or are looking for.  So I have the motto of buy now, wear later.  But to help narrow it down a little for you, I've got 5 recommendations for sweaters you'll want to rock when the weather cools down.

Happy Friday kids!  Whew, the past few weeks have been a bit of a doozy; between a bunch of company in town and then the kiddos (and then the entire family) coming down with the plague coupled with the good 'ol 4 month sleep regression (x2), I am surviving (if you can call it that) off of a lot of caffeine.  All of the caffeine in fact.  But in the midst of all of the shenanigans in our household, something kinda awesome has been happening around us.  Temperatures have started to dip a little.  You can feel it in the air when I walk Liam to school in the mornings.  It's crazy good. And with that comes all of the fall clothing - the textures, the knits, the leather, the denim.  If you are looking to make a few updates to your fall wardrobe this season, I've got you covered with some must-haves.


Camo: It's not just for hunting anymore and it's everywhere.  JCrew has a whole line this year aligned with it.  I love it paired with feminine details (like above).  It's definitely a must and something you'll be able to rock into the spring.

Embellished Denim Jackets: I'm a sucker for a good denim jacket, but man on man, are there some good ones right now.  Seriously, run, don't walk to nab one of these bad boys.


Pleats:  Pleated skirts have been appearing in lines for awhile now and for good reason. They are easily one of the most versatile pieces in my closet; easy to dress up and dress down depending on what you are going for in life.  All of the picks below are under $100 (most quite lower) and are worth snagging.


Pumped up kicks: If someone had told me even a year ago that I would be purchasing more sneakers than heels, I would have laughed at them.  Maybe it's part necessity and part that sneakers have gotten so much cuter, but whatever the reason.  I'm all in.  I started with these and have kept adding.  Comfort + glitter FTW.

Oh hi there; remember me? I can't say that I do - it's been far too long since I've checked in with you kind folks over here.  I wish I could say that I was busy doing something amazing, but honestly, though September was amazing, it totally took it out of me.  Don't get me wrong, it was a ton of fun - we were in a ton of different places, got to visit with a lot of our friends, and see a lot of great things, but all of that constant movement caught up with me.  So here I am, back at it 11 days into the month of October (?!).  The good news is though North Carolina got wholooped by Hurricane Matthew, he brought with him the (only) happy side effect of cooler temps.  It actually feels like Fall here in Charlotte and with no end in sight.  To that end, and in an effort to ease back into this whole blogging thing, I thought I'd round up some great fall trends to re-create now that the temperatures match the season.

This look is chock full of some of my favorite necessities for the Fall - the leather jacket, the sweatshirt dress, the big blanket scarf, the over-the-knee boots.  If there were ever a PSA for items you absolutely, positively should not live without this Fall/Winter, this is it.  Basically this outfit is like a big warm comfortable hug.  And don't be afraid of over-the-knee boots!  I know, they can be intimidating; not only do they keep your legs extra warm (very utilitarian for the cold weather), but they really add bonus points to a look.  Trust me, I'm a professional here.
