I wasn't lying last week when I said I was in love with this bomber jacket.  If wearing it with a skirt isn't you thing, I love the dressed down version.  It adds that extra 'umpfh' to your outfit if you just don't feel like putting a lot of effort into it.  Another new obsession of mine is signet pinky rings.  This one is an old one from high school, but I love Mark & Graham's version so much I might need to acquire another with my updated monogram.

I have a long standing dislike of the color red.  It's not so much the color itself, but the color on my specifically.  Maybe it's the brunette in me and I'm feeling a big more adventurous, but jumping into wearing more red just feels right.  Regardless, my girlfriend, who has an amazing eye, called me and told me about these pants..and she was right - they are fabulous!  Comfortable, velvet and all sorts of bright; paired with chambray and leopard, I just feel like you can't go wrong.

It's a good motto to have: whether it be for a trip, a dinner party, or just a lunch outing.  I also feel this way about layers.  Over the weekend, we spent Saturday vineyard hopping around Virginia.  It was a perfect crisp fall day and even though the sun was out, layers were definitely necessary.  For the record, I'm wearing 4 including the coat.

This past Sunday our little family ventured to the Duke Gardens to take a few pictures for Liam's Valentine's Day Cards.  The Duke Gardens holds a special place in our hearts for a variety of reasons, but mostly it's one of those places that I associate with home.  The fact that the gardens are gorgeous year-round certainly helps.

Here's the thing about this past Sunday....it was cold.  I'll be the first to admit that I'm a weather wuss (hey, I live in the South for a reason), but when it drops below 50, I generally just want to stay inside and keep cozy on the couch.  When I do venture outdoors, I opt for warm, comfy sweaters, my favorite pair of boyfriend jeans and some booties.  (And these booties are tops in my book).  My ankles may be a little cold, but that's the price of fashion, right?

Something that is interesting to me is how the same outfit translates so differently depending upon where you are.
