styling a photo session

7/11/2016

Hello again party people!  Hope you didn't miss me too much this past week, to ease on into the swing of things, I thought I'd share a little bit of lovely today.  A few weeks back, we met with Ariana to shoot a mini-session for our anniversary.  I realized that we hadn't had any solo pictures taken of our since our wedding and as much as I do love the family pictures we'd had taken, I thought it would be nice to something to celebrate us.  When it comes to coordinating for pictures, I subscribe to the mentality that instead of matchy-matchy, coordinating is the way to go - taking like items (colors, materials, patterns) and incorporating them in not-so-obvious ways into each of your outfits.  It seems much more organic, less planned, and more natural in my opinion - particularly if you are after lifestyle photography rather than portraiture.  I also love to incorporate items which have meaning.  For example, the shoes I'm wearing, I wore to our rehearsal dinner and the earrings I wore for our wedding.
