The newest royal, Baby George, was christened yesterday and with that event came the inevitable fashion discussions around what Kate would wear. Sticking tried and true to her roots, she selected a custom Alexander McQueen frock. Although I am not a huge fan of the dress, it was very occasion appropriate. I also have to say, I love that she's a brand loyal. McQueen (now steered by Sarah Burton) is a power house in the fashion industry and Kate wears their designs beautifully. I've included some of my favorite McQ looks rocked by the Duchess herself below.

Alexander McQueen is at the tippy top of my list with regards to favorite designers. With his protege, Sarah Burton at the wheel of his fashion house, they have yet to make a misstep. This season McQueen is collaborating with Hudson furniture to highlight both of their spring-summer collections. Once you look at Hudon's line, you'll notice that it is an easy and gorgeous fit.

It's no secret that I am a fan of high heels and I used to think that the higher the better. 4 inch platform pumps, bring it! Skinny stiletto heels, it's on! It also helps to note that years of dancing en pointe have rendered the nerve endings in my toes dead and therefore it is much easier for me to wear these towering confections than the average person. One of my very best girlfriend and I were chatting the other day and she mentioned how high heels are getting. I hadn't taken much notice, but the more I looked the more I realized that designers are challenging the already towering heights of heels. While I appreciate the looks, I have to wonder, how comfortable are these shoes and how feasible are they for women to walk in?
One of my biggest pet peeves are women who wear fabulous heels, but then have NO idea how to walk in them or rock them. My best advice if you are going to wear these towering beauties is to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE at home before you make your debut on the street. Also, cushion inserts always help from a comfort level if you are going to invest in them.

Things that made me incredibly happy about last night's SAG awards: the resurgence of fabulous ponytails (Diane Lane, Jane Krakwoski - I'm talkin' to you), the lack of headbands (Thank you celebs for getting the message after the Golden Globes); and Marchesa, Oscar, and McQueen. Here are some of my favorite looks from last night.

McQueen is a favorite of mine and Emma Stone in McQueen is basically perfection. And there was probably not a better dressed or adorable couple on the red carpet than Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. Her Oscar de la Renta paired with his midnight blue tux, to die for. Also, he knew the designer of her gown AND did a little dance at her request during a red carpet interview.

Lea Michele's look for the Golden Globes got a lot of commentary. I personally loved it, but a lot of people thought it wasn't her, it was too grown up. Last night she showed up in Versace looking pretty fantastic. I'm not sure if I would have gone with her shoe choice, but all-in-all, I think it was a win.
Given my recent love of the color mint, I couldn't not include Kaley Cuoco in this Kevaza confection. Gorgeous, loved it. And I even dug the braided handmaiden hair.

I wish I could run down the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, mostly because I love him and Kyra Sedgwick. And I want to look like her when I'm older...so at least want the name of her plastic surgeon. I think that she looked flawless and fabulous.
Zoe Saldana rocked a Givenchy frock...absolutely stunning and forward thinking. Loved the white color.
And last but certainly not least, Marchesa. All of the ladies that were dressed by Marchesa looked absolutely amazingly spectacular. I loved all of the dresses (and the ladies who wore them).

Anne Hathaway isn't always at the top of my fashion list. However, when I saw images of her from the "One Day" Premiere, I was reminded that sometimes the girl hits the nail squarely on the head in the form of Alexander McQueen and Tiffany & Co. jewels. Which, in turn, reminded me that she has had some fantastic moments on the red carpet. Anne is always so elegant, classic, and timeless.

The BAFTA Gala was held over this past weekend and the stars and royals did not disappoint! Blake Lively and Kate Middleton wore two of my favorite designers, Marchesa and McQueen respectively. And they were breathtaking! Both of these dresses are to-die-for and both wore them as if the dresses were designed for the starlet and Duchess. Honestly, they probably were.
Another fave from the night: Jennifer Garner. She typically is spot on with her fashion choices and is one of my favorites because she looks amazing in everything from jeans and a t-shirt to a formal gown.

Today I'm off for a long weekend in Vegas with some of my girlfriends. I love Vegas; it's such a fun city with a great vibe. And oh, the shopping! We have a fun schedule planned and I put together some looks for our activities. The key to dressing in Vegas is to look effortlessly fabulous. (I don't really do the touristy white tennis shoe/fanny pack thing.)
