When people ask me what is staple piece that I recommend to everyone to be a part of their wardrobe basics, I always say a trench coat.  Usually one of a more classic color than the one I'm wearing in these pictures, but ultimately, I spend the majority of the Spring and Fall in a good trench.  They are totally worth the investment and you can get a good one at a really decent price point.  I love my Banana Republic trenches, but if you are looking for the quintessential classic piece, you can't go wrong with Burberry.
