salt, sand, and seagulls

9/26/2013

I grew up going to the beach for weeks on end.  So when my sister came back into town for an extended stay, it was only natural for my family to pack up and head to the coast.  This time, we hung out in Wild Dunes, a community outside of Charleston, SC (which happens to be my most favorite town in the South).  Peanut being not-so-sure of the ocean since birth, was skeptical, but when that sneaky ocean crept right up and tickled his ankles and then mercilessly retreated back to from whence it came, he had had it.  And I get it, it's a little rude of that mean ocean to sneak up on someone and then not stay to play a little bit.  Peanut was not so forgiving during the short trip and promptly screamed everytime we got close to the water's edge, or rather it got close to us.  So sadly, my love of the water hasn't quite translated to our son....yet.  But he did have a fun time playing in the sand and chasing seagulls (a trait which he did not acquire from me; I hate seagulls)!

  1. I wish I had grown up going to the beach. I was about 12 until before my first time stepping in the ocean.
