I feel that I am very fortunate; I love my career.  I'm kinda nerdy like that.  The one thing that is kinda not-so-much-me is that I work in a fairly conservative industry.  Dressing for work is often a challenge for me between trying to express myself in my clothing but also not entirely sticking out like a sore thumb.  (For the record, I don't necessarily mind sticking out, but there are good ways to stick out and then ways that don't do you a service in the work place).  On this particular day, I had to get pictures taken for our Corporate Communications Group so I needed to tone it down a little bit more.  But at the end of the day, I was pretty happy with my look despite having to play it a little more safe.

What do you do for work? Do you have a specific dress code that you have or like to adhere to? How do you express yourself in the workplace?

  4. I consider myself super fortunate because the dress code around here is relaxed. We do get the occasional HR emails to put people in line but for the most part I don't struggle.

But I am always looking for office friendly ideas since I'm getting sick of cardigans all the time!

    Great post :)

  5. This is one of the things I miss most about work.. if that makes sense. It was very laid back and since it was in fashion when you walked in wearing neon or printed pants no one looked at you like you were nuts.. well maybe the tech guys. ;)
