Much like weddings, the anticipation and arrival of a baby usually means a series of celebrations which include gift giving.  I have to admit that when I first started gift giving for baby, I was at a loss.  My best advice is when in doubt, shop off a registry.  However, as soon-to-be first time parents, we were pretty clueless in putting together our registry and loved gifts from parents that were tried and true.  With that being said, if you are looking to shop off of registry, here are some items that I love and make great baby gifts that people don't necessarily register for nor will they buy for themselves, but are fantastic gifts and more sentimental items.  Then again, I love a good monogram or anything engraved.
