stay-at-home week in outfits

4/14/2020

Here in North Carolina, we are jumping into week 5 of the stay-at-home order.  To be honest, it's been incredibly difficult to find a good cadence for everyone between work, Liam's school, and the general needs of two nearly-three-year-olds, but we are learning to give ourselves grace in the chaos and also learning that maybe those items that we thought would make or break our parenting isn't truly that. (Screen time for all!)

The other thing that I have struggled with is getting ready each day.  Most of it has to do with the fact that I'm getting up much earlier to get some work done before the rest of the house wakes up and then by the time they do, we are at a full court press to bedtime leaving me little time to get myself ready.  None-the-less, I am determined to take a minute to at least wash my face and change out of my pajamas and to that end, I thought I'd share some of my favorite stay-at-home looks from over the past week that aren't entirely extra.  Though I do appreciate a good extra look, I also acknowledge that I am not (nor are many people) in a very 'extra' mood these days.

The 'I-Dressed-like-I'm-Popping-into-the-Gym' Look

[sweatshirt (sold out, but try this & this) // pants (old), but love these & these // kicks]

I typically wear some work of workout gear for some portion of the day self-isolating or not, but these days, it's more all day than a portion of it.  And that calls for cute work-out gear.  Over the past year, as I've worked out more, I've need to get more stuff and I love a good Ultracor yoga pant.  10/10 would highly recommend.  Also, if you are looking for a great variety of work-outs to stream from home, check out Fit Atelier's Streaming services.  Their beautiful location doors might be shut, but their instructors are filming work-outs from home and they are getting pushed out frequently.

The 'I-just-got-back-from-a-Brunch' Look

[dress // kicks]

Ah, to brunch again.  It'll happen, one day, sometime soon.  In the meantime, I'm living for tiered dresses.  They are light, airy and can easily be dressed up with heels or dressed down with trainers.  It also translates well on your Zoom calls.

The 'I've-been-binging-Tiger-King' Look

[top // joggers]

I mean, if you haven't watched Tiger King on Netflix, are you even under a stay-at-home order? All joking aside, Sundry makes the most comfy elevated lounge wear around.  Trust me, I'm a professional at this point.

The 'Supporting Local' look

[shirt // shorts // belt // kicks]

Times are tough for all of us, but times are really tough for local businesses who have been forced to shutter due to the COVID crisis.  We are trying to support local whereever we can; whether it be ordering take out from some of our favorite places or purchasing products from our favorite local stores$10 from each purchase of this shirt go back to a fund to support female owned businesses.

The 'I-should-probably-put-on-something-a-little-more-put-together' Look

[dress (other options, here, here)]

Similarly the the shorter tiered option, a midi dress is a great throw on.  It's easy, comfortable and these days, who needs shoes when you aren't going anywhere.  Seriously, I think my shoes miss me.  But regardless, I endorse this look.
