7 shows to binge watch on NetFlix

8/21/2018

I know, if you are anything like me, you have an infinite amount of time to sit down and binge watch a TV show.  (I wish sarcasm came through this medium).  These days, I don't have much time to sit down and truly binge watch a show - my binge watching can be described as a slow and steady trudge through a TV show on NetFlix or AmazonPrime Video.  I usually takes me awhile, particularly if I'm not traveling or on an airplane, but I've come to find several REALLY good shows that I'd highly recommend watching and are my instant go-tos if asked.  So without further ado, if you have to pick 7, here they are (in no particular order).

+ Schitt's Creek

ohmygoodness.  I can't take credit for this find (a friend of mine turned me onto it), but if you love Best in Show or A Mighty Wind, run don't walk to catch this quirky and very funny show.  Though it too me a while to get into it (think a couple of episodes), like all good shows, it finds its stride and is one of the few shows that has me laughing out loud.

+ The West Wing

Sure it's an older show, but it's so good.  So good, in fact, that many of the topics they tackle are still relevant in some capacity today.  Plus the cast.  OMG, the cast. and the writing.  Basically it's the whole package.  And totally worth watching all of the 6 seasons.  If you can't get enough, watch along with The West Wing Weekly.

+ The Santa Clarita Diet

I have to be honest when I say I started this series with zero expectations and no clue as to what it was really about.  I think that probably helped me find it hysterical.  It really is worth checking out both seasons and I'm sure you'll be excited for the third to come out.

+ Insatiable

As my son pointed out, It's Jessie! (Apparently a Disney start) who has the lead in this.  Don't worry, if you've seen any bit of this show, he wasn't watching it, but merely saw the title cover.  Trust me, another dark comedy (are you catching a theme?) that you can't go wrong with.  It's frivolous, ridiculous, and fun.  Romping good time.

+ Parks & Rec

Another show that I didn't watch in real time, but I'm happy that I was late to the party on this one.  I am obsessed with Amy Poehler, I'm sure we'd be best friends in real life (if she'd ever return my calls).  The cast of this show is amazing (it's no coincidence that Rob Lowe appears in two of the shows on this list) and their antics never get old.

+ Riverdale

If you've followed me for awhile, you probably know that I am a sucker for a good tween show.  Freeform man, it ruins my street cred (or what little I had of it).  But this take on the classic Archie comic series peaked my interest and has kept it (we know DVR it in real time).  Maybe it's my love of Archie comics, or my love of drama that isn't my own, but I'm here for it.

+ New Girl

If you can figure out the actual rules to True American, you are invited to our house for a weekend to play.
