Jason Wu for Target

2/01/2012

Jason Wu releases his collection for Target on 4 February.  Are you ready for the craziness to ensue?

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about these collaborations with high fashion and lower budget retailers.  I think that sometimes they are executed well, but I think it some ways it does somewhat of a disservice to the designer.  Offering your designs at a lower price, while allows the designer to broaden their reach and expose people to their designs, it's a slippery slope for the designer.  I think there is something to be said for exclusivity for a brand. What are your thoughts? Are you a fan of these collaborations?

  1. I don't want a fake purse from chinatown - and i don't want the poor'd down version of a top designer. I will hold off until I can afford the real thing.

  2. I think its an absolute risk on the designers part. While I have never purchased one of these lines through Target, Im sure many enjoy it. Check out my latest post today and tell me what you think if you have the time! Thanks, love!

  3. I'm a huge admirer of designer and high fashion - but unfortunately I can't buy any of those items at the moment. Since I am such a budget shopper I have a real appreciation for great designers who can offer those of us who can't buy that $1,000 dress a chance at some fabulous and affordable style. I have probably purchased at least 1 piece from each of these designer collaborations. That being said I know you can't purchase every item as certain pieces still look cheap. And I still love their larger and more expensive collections.

    1. I agree with what you've said. While I admire the run way looks I'm not able to afford them. It's nice to know that I can still have a similar high end look but at a price more affordable for me and my family. Some pieces do look cheaper but if you really look through the collection you can get some great pieces for great prices.

  4. So I love the designs until I see them in person and they are just poorly and cheaply made.... I ran into that with the Missoni collection and settled on some plates so I could still look at the beautiful design. while I appreciate the access to high design, its just not worth the poor manufacturing.... with all that being said, there is a really cute bag on the commercials I want!!!
