Gallery Wall

1/30/2011

I have always loved the idea of a gallery wall.  And after going through family photos prior to our wedding a few years ago, I thought that it would be a fabulous idea to incorporate them into our gallery wall.  I loved the idea of having some of our favorite memories from our childhood, wedding photos from our grandparents, some of our favorite memories from our life together, and our amazing friends all the way up our wall.

We also had a bear of a time finding matching gallery frames that we agreed on and would look right.  We finally settled on doing different frames, which actually turned out much better than I could have ever expected.  Basically, I love it and I think that we can carry the idea to the next place that we live as well.

If this is something that you want to do in your home, I would recommend using classic photos that have a meaning to you and your family.  We chose a mix of old family photos (grandparents weddings); classic family photos from when we were younger; and then photos from trips, with friends, and from our wedding.  Think outside of the box when it comes to finding the frames.  If you want all similar/matching frames, definitely check out West Elm and Etsy; both have more unique and different frames.  If you are looking for something more classic: Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware.
