Vintage Chanel and Hiking

11/05/2012

[morning reading and coffee]

Usually these two things don't go together but as luck would have it, for me this weekend, they did.  I spent this past weekend in the mountains for an annual girls weekend.  The town of Blowing Rock in North Carolina is definitely one of my favorites; with it's quaint downtown and gorgeous views, it was the best way to unwind and enjoy some quality girl time.  (Read: great food, shopping, wine, and a lot of chick flicks) Inclusive of that quaint downtown was a shop that had a ton of gorgeous vintage Chanel baubles. I was impressed with my will-power to not walk out of their with a piece of my own and promptly wished that I had as a preemptive reward for the hike that we took soon thereafter.  (Yes, you read that correctly.  I hiked...outdoors....)

Since it snowed very early this season on account of Hurricane Sandy, our weekend was more than picturesque.  I got to bring out all of my super warm, comfy winter clothes - which made me incredibly happy. And yes, that even includes Uggs.  They might be the ugliest shoes on earth, but they do keep your feet nice and toasty as you are trudging up a mountain.

In addition to Uggs, I thought I'd share some of my other winter must-haves.  What are some of your can't-live-withouts for these cool winter months?

  1. I love hiking and I love clothes at the same time. Those two things can actually fit together, just not at the same time! ;)

  2. ooh, seems like the perfect weekend. I don't mind hiking if the scenery is beautiful. And yes, Uggs are like a necessary evil in the winter. They are not cute, but I can't not have them since they are like magic for my feet!
