This past weekend, my amazing mother threw me a baby shower in Charlotte NC at Carpe Diem. I am so thankful for all of the wonderful women who traveled from near and far (some as far as Dallas) to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our little chiclet. I've always known that I am blessed to have such amazing family and friends, but it is events like this that serve as a helpful and humbling reminder of just how lucky we truly are. I am so excited for our little one to grow up in such a loved and wonderful environment. I know that he will certainly not want for love.
I am not a baby shower person, per say. The typical games, themes, etc. don't really do it for me. No offense if it is your cup 'o tea, but it's just not for me. Thankfully my mother was gracious enough give into my every whim (including a theme that she was not super stoked about) and hostessed an amazing luncheon.
And now....the name. Hubs is incredibly superstitious and did not want to reveal the name at all until chiclet was born. However, because he rocks and in an effort to make me happy (plus I think I wore him down), he agreed to compromise and reveal the name for the shower. Picking names is a tricky business. For us, it was incredibly important to incorporate family names in honor of those important in our lives. For that very reason we have chosen....
William is a name for both of our families (my father/grandfather's middle name, my other grandfather's first name, Hub's grandfather's name, and the list goes on and on). Alexander is a traditional middle name in Hub's family; they typically give the first born son Alexander as his middle name. We will call our little William, Liam (which is a nickname for William).
I also need to give a huge thanks to Blair from Joie de Vie Paperie. I found Blair on Pinterest in my search for mustache themed shower accessories (yes I you read that correctly) and she was a FANTASTIC to work with. She has such an eye for design, very easy going, punctual, precise, and really all around awesome. I would highly recommend getting in touch with her via email. Seriously, you'll thank me for it later.
Another huge thanks to my girlfriends who made the cake. They have a little cake business on the side and they really rock! If you are interested in using their services and are in the Raleigh area, please let me know.
Also in the vein of mustaches, November happens to be Movember, a month dedicated to the awareness and raising of funds for men's health issues, specially of cancers that affect men. All of us have important men in our lives, whether they be family members, husbands, sons, sons-in-laws, cousins, grandchildren, etc. Definitely check out the website and see what you can do to support the cause.
Thank you so much ladies for all of you love, support, and generosity! I had such a fabulous time and you all are so amazing!

What an awesome looking shower. I wouldn't expect anything less from the person who's wedding decor I still talk about. What a wonderful name too. Good luck to you, and our future Hokie.
ReplyDeleteThe message tree and the blocks are such great ideas for a shower! Everything looks so cute. Love the mustaches- another fantastic idea! I'm not a fan of the typical shower games whether it be a baby shower or bridal shower but this is just perfect!
