Summer Reads

6/22/2011

I'm headed to the beach for a week next week with the in-laws.  I actually quite stoked because 1) my in-laws are fabulous 2) it is a MUCH needed break from work and 3) it will give me an excellent opportunity to just relax.

One of my favorite beach activities is reading so I'm looking for some good summer reads to digest while on vacay.  Here's my list so far:

The Hunger Games Trilogy: Yes, I'm a grown women and too old for teen lit.  However, I read the first book for my book club and I am hooked. Dagger.

Committed: I read Eat, Pray, Love ages ago and really enjoyed the style of this author's writing.  I have had this book on Kindle for awhile, but have been otherwise diverted by other reading.  I'm excited to continue reading this because it really is good so far.

Heart of the Matter: Emily Giffin has been a long time favorite of mine; I tore through Something Borrowed and Something Blue.  (And of course, loved the movie and eagerly awaiting an announcement that Something Blue has been green-lighted for production).

Bossypants: I find Tina Fey hysterically funny.  The women are having our own mini book club while at the beach and this was the pick.  I'm very excited to start reading it.

So what do you guys think? Any other must-reads this summer season? Anything on my list that I should skip?

  2. Chelsea, I am halfway through Bossypants- it's funny and smart, love it. I also was looking forward to reading Committed, after loving Eat, Pray, Love. But I started it months ago and can't get through it. It seems more like a research report on marriage, rather than focusing on her own story. You might be ok skipping that one.
