joy of gifting

12/20/2017

There are very few things as gratifying to me as finding the perfect gift for someone on my list.  Whether it be a piece that you know they want or something that you think they'll enjoy, I'm always searching for unique items to gift those in my life.  And this time of year is the perfect time to do it.  I know, there are only a few days left until Christmas, but if you happen to be in the Charlotte area, I'd highly recommend that you pop by City Art Works if anything more than an oasis in the madness that is this holiday season.

See what I mean, the store is absolutely stunning.  It's chock full of nooks and crannies with all sorts of goodness from gifts for the kiddos in your life to ornaments to pieces of art and even a little something to treat yourself.

a gift for someone who believes in neverland and is always on the look out for adventure - a beautiful book and a compass to find your way home: I love the idea of not just giving books, but giving the classics that can be read over and over, as well as passed down over the years.  We gifted this version of Peter Pan to Liam on his first birthday and often pull it out to read a chapter a night. Now that he's older and very much an explorer, a compass is a fun tool that we can have now and keep for later.

a gift for new parents for their child's room or a nice reminder for the household: This quote are the last lines from Mary Oliver's poem, The Summer Day.  I recommend you read it but in the meantime, this is a lovely reminder and an easy piece to integrate into your household whether it be in a common space or in a room of a little one.

for the lover of books and pretty things: Along the same vein as the Peter Pan book, Rife Paper Company released a gorgeous selection of classics.  Gift one, gift them all.  Pair them with the matching candles.  They are truly stunning pieces.  I own the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but really want to add the others for the girls as they get older.

for your sentimental mother/mother-in-law/sister/best friend: Brian Andreas' Story People strike a special cord with me.  Affordable, unique, and beautiful - they are the perfect blend of artwork and meaning.  There are pieces for about every occasion you can think of and the words are just as beautiful as the art.

for the little humans in your life who love a good lovey: Equally beautiful and soft, there is a great selection of perfect little loveys for the little ones in your life.  Jellycat stuffed animals are a fan favorite in our household and my preferred gifting choice for new babies.

for yourself, because after all of that shopping, you deserve a bauble: I love a gorgeous piece of jewelry, particularly unique pieces.  There are tons of sparkles in City Art Works and one of my favorites, Pyrrha, has it's own little nook.  They are great gifts for yourself, as well as a bestie in your life.  And who doesn't love mermaids.

Where are you on your holiday shopping list? Are you done? (I'm not) Are you close to being done? (Nope.) If you are anything like me, or even if you aren't, if you are looking for a unique something this holiday season, definitely check out City Art Works.
